lemony garlic grilled chicken breast

By | August 5th, 2016|Health, Marinades and Sauces, Pastured Meat, Recipes|

Summer is in full swing (I cannot believe we are in August. When did that happen?), and somehow I magically learned how to grill. It's always been something I just left to Rusty (no, not because he's a guy, but just because I had never done it and he had), but I got the urge [...]

on the move… again

By | July 22nd, 2016|Health, reflections|

Change is inevitable. Goals change. Perspectives change. Passions change. Desires change. And oftentimes, environments change as a result. Happiness is not inevitable. That is, unless we decide that we want it to be. Every day we wake up with a choice: Do I want to be happy today? We have the power to make choices [...]

RADICAL [rad-i-kuh l] (adjective): thoroughgoing or extreme, especially as regards change from accepted or traditional forms To be radical, one must question accepted or traditional forms and must, at times, be extreme in fighting anything proclaimed as unquestionably true. This rings true in today's nutrition communities more [...]

Taco (salad) Tuesday!

Almost 3 years ago now, Rusty and I honeymooned in Kauai (see pre manbun Rusty?). It was an amazing trip filled with hiking, kayaking, adventuring, and of course, eating. When we travel, we always make a point of trying to experience the place as locals would. We avoid resorts at all costs, stay away from [...]

moonlight carnitas

By | May 19th, 2016|Pastured Meat, Recipes|

So, some of you might recall from a recent Instagram/Facebook post, I made some incredibly drool worthy carnitas a couple weeks ago. I would like to first apologize for taking so long to get them to to you, but hey, life's been NUTS and these are worth the wait. One of the coolest (among many) things about [...]

Rootz for Radical Roots

By | May 14th, 2016|Health, Nutrition|

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I am not a huge supplement person. In my opinion, we can get most, if not all, of the nourishment we need from real, organic, properly raised food. There are, however, some key exceptions to this, and with that being said only a few key supplements that fit the [...]

garlic balsamic aioli burgers

By | May 6th, 2016|Health, Marinades and Sauces, Pastured Meat, Recipes|

The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and I am craving burgers. But first, a bit of somewhat sad news: Rusty and I have decided to take a little break from dairy - not because I think dairy is inherently bad (in fact, good quality, especially raw, dairy is incredibly nutrient dense) - [...]

Have I mentioned that I love my Instant Pot? Of course I have, but in case you missed it: I love my Instant Pot. This thing has made life so much easier, and because we are in the midsts of big change, busy schedules, and a remodel... well easy is pretty necessary. This recipe time [...]

harder to kill

By | April 21st, 2016|CrossFit, Health, Movement and Play, Nutrition, reflections, The Mind|

Last month, I had the pleasure of being a guest on Harder to Kill Radio, a podcast created by the fabulous Steph Gaudreau of Stupid Easy Paleo. I've always been a talker, so podcast interviews are my favorite. They offer a chance for some seriously uninhibited real talk, and with Steph as the host, things [...]
