Sustainable and Comfortable Style Favorites

It’s 2024, style no longer means sacrificing comfort, health, or sustainability….

And here are some of my top style favorites chosen for sustainability, durability, functionality, health (because yes, what we wear does impact our well-being), and style (because also yes, I want to look good too).

Check them out below, and let me know any favorites I’m missing in the comments!

Clothing:

Woolly: Check out WOOLLY for merino wool, sustainably made clothing that’s durable, cute, and awesome for every adventure. I’ve put my weekender pants, crop hoody, wool leggings, favorite socks, and henley top to the test through cross country travel, our first snow day, hikes, and everyday life, and they’re standing the test of motherhood and holding strong. And the high waisted thong and briefs are officially my new favorite underwear of all time. Save 15% with code: WELCOME15.

Vuori: I pretty much live in their stuff, whether I am training in the gym (or my living room), living the everyday demands of motherhood, or out on the town with my guy – LOVE their new bodysuit (and so does he). Shop Vuori goods here!

Just Black Denim and more from Rose & Lee: I finally found US-made jeans that fit my frame like a glove – and you know there’s magic in that. Find JBD and other sustainable clothing choices at the Rose & Lee Collective, an online clothing collective that partners with conscientious brands committed to making the world a better place with goal to empower and create transformation for women both locally and around the world. Save 10% on Just Black Denim and more with code: RADICALROOTS.

Everlane: The folks at Everlane want the right choice to be as easy as putting on a great T-shirt. That’s why they partner with the best, ethical factories around the world. Source only the finest materials. And share those stories with you—down to the true cost of every product we make. It’s a new way of doing things. We call it Radical Transparency, and the sweaters, denim, and t-shirts are topnotch. Shop 30% off Everlane essentials.

Pact Organics : Our favorite organic clothing, home, and bath all in one place. Save on your first order here! I love the camis, underwear, sweaters, tops, and pants, and it’s all made sustainably from organic cotton.

Coaltree: Coalatree designs eco-minded gear and apparel for the adventurer in everyone, from athletes and photographers to your average city folks and weekend warriors. I love that I can wear their clothing on epic hikes, around the house, or for an evening out – always in comfort and style. Plus, it’s all eco friendly! Save with code: RADICALROOTS.

Nui Organics: Nui is based on a foundation of sustainable values. A culture rooted in consciousness, community, compassion, transparency and intentional design, that puts people and the planet first. They create high-quality, low-impact apparel in timeless, long-lasting styles using only sustainable materials and an ethical supply chain. And it shows in their clothes. We love the baby and kiddos clothes for the girls, and I LOVE my waffle leggings. Shop HERE!

Accessories:

Parker Clay: Buy one of their gorgeous sustainably sourced leather bags and you make a difference in the life women in Ethiopia. Statistically, women reinvest much more of their wages into their families. The folks at Parker Clay believe that when you empower a woman, you empower a village, and in Ethiopia, they’re creating opportunities for women today to build a better world for tomorrow. Empowerment demands more than just jobs and living wages, and they aim to break the chain of dependency by providing women with the skills, tools, and means they need to uplift their communities, their way. Save $35 on your first order!

Barebones: LOVE this company all about food, nature, and the pull of the fire—and they make one of my favorite bags for every adventure. I used the Neelum Tote Bag instead of a diaper bag through Indie’s newborn stage and beyond and it’s durable, functional, and stylish too! Save 15% with code: WINTER23.

Shoes (see all my favorites in one place here):

Belenka: I LOVE my Belenka boots, and the mission behind this small company. Belenka makes barefoot shoes for the whole family. Evie LOVES her boots for forest school, and I have finally discovered barefoot boots that I can dress up or use on the trails. There’s a magic when style meets functions. They also make ergonomic baby carriers, for newborns to toddlers, as well as comfortable and beautiful baby-wearing, nursing, and maternity clothes. Their products are designed and sustainably made in the Czech Republic and Slovakia right in the heart of Europe. Shop HERE and buy one get one 50% off through FEb. 14!

Earthrunners: It might not be sandal season, but I keep my Earthrunners at the ready. I LOVE the different color and material choices, the look, and the functionality all warm-weather season long. Their mission is to help recover our connection with nature and reestablish healthy physical and biological functions. Who knew sandals could do just that? Healthier feet, connection with the ground beneath us, and wholly holistically healthier humans because of it. What’s not to love? 10% off code: MYRADICALROOTS10.

Xero Shoes: One of the first barefoot shoe companies doing things right, these folks make shoes, sandals, slippers, and boots for everything – from hanging out to major hikes, Xero Shoes has a pair for everyone (kids too)! Shop HERE!

Skincare:

Skincare, body care, & makeup play into the style game too. And these days highly effective, sustainable, responsibly sourced, and SAFE products do exist. From at-home spa products and deeply nourishing skincare to sustainably sourced, high-performing makeup, Beautycounter offers the highest quality products that you can be certain are also safe, sourced responsibly, and packaged sustainably, all while upholding strict regulations ensuring products are free from a growing list of NEVER ingredients that are harmful for your health AND we’re advocating for a future where safer skincare is available to all.

I am also loving DIME Beauty, another safe skincare line at a great price. It’s been awesome to supplement some of my routine with their products. I especially love the TBT line.

And don’t forget about Primally Pure! Their gua sha stone is a part of my every single day game-changing skin routine, and it’s got stress relieving and lymphatic system draining benefits too.

And for the kiddos:

Kiddos get style too (just ask Evie; she’s got better style than her mama)! Here are some of our favorites for the girls (for the same reasons I love my own style picks):

Belenka + Earthrunners: The girls both love their Belenka boots and Evie is a huge fan of her own Earthrunner sandals to match mama (find links above).

Little Green Radicals: This sustainable kids’ clothing company makes organic and recycled clothing and gear for every season! We’ve loved their rain and cold-weather suits, sweaters, and pants. Plus, swim and spf gear for the summer months. And they always have great sales going on and an awesome outlet selection.

Nui Organics wool: We love the waffle sets, socks, and wool turtlenecks! They last so long and have been such worthwhile investments for the girls. these we buy ourselves and they’re so worth the investment!)

Colored Organics: We love the honest, ethical, and absolutely adorable clothing from Colored Organics. Founding Mama, Amanda, knew that making the switch to organic, ethical fashion for her family could make a big difference in the clothing industry, and she’s committed to creating clothes that do good, not just in our homes, but throughout every stage of production and beyond the clothing industry.

Thrift: Likely the most sustainable way to get clothes for our kids is choosing secondhand. They grow so fast, community is strong, and accepting/sharing hand-me-downs is a no=brainer. I just found the COOLEST flannel for Evie at our local secondhand shop, and she’s happy as can be.

HAPPY STYLING – and feeling good in the process!

Sending love, nature time, and hugs,
♥ Laura
